About Us

Shivansh Abroad helps electric car owners and shoppers understand one thing clearly: what it actually costs to charge at home.

Why we built this

When you’re thinking about an EV, the question everyone asks is “how much will it add to my electric bill?” The honest answer depends on your car, your state, your utility plan and how far you drive. Most answers online give a single national number. We built calculators and state-by-state pages so you can get your number in under a minute.

Where our data comes from

  • Electricity prices: average residential retail prices by state, published by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA). Current figures are from July 2026, and we update them as new data is released.
  • Vehicle data: approximate battery capacity and EPA-rated range for the longest-range version of each model, from manufacturer specifications and published buyer’s-guide data.
  • Installation costs: published industry cost ranges for Level 2 chargers, electrician labor and electrical upgrades.

How we calculate

We keep the math transparent. Energy per mile is battery capacity divided by EPA range. We then add a typical charging loss (we assume Level 2 home charging is about 90% efficient and a standard 120V outlet about 85%) so you see the energy you actually pay for at the wall. Cost is that energy multiplied by the electricity rate. Each calculator page explains its formula and assumptions in plain English.

Our standards

  • We show our assumptions next to every result.
  • We tell you when an average might not apply to you, and let you enter your own figures.
  • We correct mistakes quickly. If you spot one, please let us know.
  • Advertising helps keep the site free. Advertisers have no influence over our calculations or content.
